Happy summer Everyone!
I think it is safe to say we are all excited that the winter has finally passed, and we are moving into the warm, sunny days of summer. This season in Vancouver, there are hundreds of amazing activities for everyone! There are beautiful patios to sip on local spirits, and the city is surrounded by gorgeous scenery that offer challenging and thrilling hikes, and beautiful beaches to relax on. Not to mention that spring and summer bring delicious fresh produce! Who doesn’t love chowing down on fresh and juicy watermelon and making garden salads with veggies straight from the farms? If you are like me and love all these things, then I have fantastic news for you; the Downtown Farmers Market is back!
Starting on June 6th, reoccurring every Thursday until October, local businesses from all other the lower mainland will be gathered at 688 Hamilton St (formerly the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza). You will be surrounded by locally sourced, fresh foods by local farmers and other businesses, such as Vancouver Bagel co., Plantbase Foods and Specialties, Hillier Farms, Oyster & King and Tesfa Farms. This farmers market is the best way to grab organic fruits and veggies right at your doorstep! With 25+ vendors, you couldn’t for a better way to spend a Thursday evening!
If you visit their website www.eatlocal.org, there is plenty of additional information, including a section where they let you know what is in season! It is super helpful to know how to get the yummiest foods that are in their prime! They also let you know their top picks of the week.
